The home of the convention will be the Loew’s New Orleans Hotel. The hotel is located at 300 Poydras Street, New Orleans, LA 70130. Check-in policies and hotel information can be found here. The main hotel phone number is 504-636-3300 .

Room Cost is $126/night for single or double occupancy. This special rate includes taxes and state fees. Please make your reservation directly with the Hotel Reservations department by calling 866-563-9792. Be sure to mention “Conservative Party USA” when you call to assure this special rate. Naturally, a standard credit card required and rooms are subject to availability.

For convention activities, the Registration Fee is $175 per convention attendee. Be an early bird and register for only $150 per attendee if paid by June 15, 2010. This fee will entitle you to all the convention activities including the reception on Thursday night, July 22, the banquet on Saturday night (evening wear required), July 24, and the business meetings held during each day (casual dress) of the convention. Please make checks payable to the “Conservative Party USA” and mail to:

11814 Coursey Blvd #530

Baton Rouge, LA, 70816

Attn: 2010 Convention.

On the assumption that most people will be flying, the most economical transportation from the airport to the hotel is the New Orleans Airport Shuttle. The rate is $38 round trip or $20 one way per passenger. This will provide ample savings over the normal $30 one way per person taxi fare. Please contact the shuttle service to reserve by calling 504-522-3500 or visit their website linked above.

If you plan to drive to the convention, be aware that the hotel provides valet parking with a convention discount of $20.00 per night.

Part of the business of the convention will be the debating of Party Planks. As a member in good standing of the Conservative Party USA, you are eligible and invited to submit suggestions for consideration to be included in the Party Planks. The National Site of the Conservative Party USA offers the abstract form for you to make your suggestion. You will also find on this site the method that will be used for approval of planks submitted by the membership.

I look forward to seeing you there.

I have been closely following the Primary Elections in the various states to this point. There have been twelve so far in addition to three Special Elections with Hawai’i having a Special Election on May 22.

By my count, 74 Governors, Senators and Congressmen will not be part of the November General Elections, the “mid-terms.” Some of the Governors are stopped by term limits, some Senators and Congressmen are retiring (wonder why?), one has been denied the nomination of his Party for reelection, Bob Bennett of Utah, two have been kicked out in the Primary, Arlen Specter of Pennsylvania and Alan Mollohan of West Virginia,. Two have resigned due to scandal, Mark Souder from Indiana and Eric Massa from New York. Several others are running for another national or state office.

Unfortunately, we will not really know until November whether we have taken a major step toward returning our America to what it was and should be. Until then there is an issue we must address. The sooner we do so the better equipped we will be to handle the tide of swelling Socialism in the United States.

Everyone knows that the major problem is the liberals/Socialists in Washington, DC. We must continue trying to get rid of as many liberal elected officials as we possibly can, but I have to tell you – it does not look too good from where I sit.

Incumbents whether Democrat or Republican are being elected in their primaries in overwhelming numbers. Folks, we simply cannot march in our TEA Parties, stand on the steps of the Capitol or continue sending letters, emails and making phone calls telling our elected officials that they do not represent us, and that we will remember this in November if we keep reelecting them in the primaries.

It is true that some of the Democrats are getting a little worried about their jobs and trying to give the appearance of moving more centrist than left, but that is merely an act on their part. You know that as well as I do.

In all fairness, I think some of the Republicans are getting our message as well, but it is much too little and much too late.

The Republican Party is being infiltrated by a group who want to change the Republican Platform and planks to a more socially liberal stance. These are the Libertarians. For years, they have had their own party. The problem is, they have not been able to succeed in gaining much support from American voters – until now. Their party is losing money and going bankrupt. The party leadership are not even trying to rebuild their party – they are going to take over the Republican Party because of the established track record and the money issues.

The problem is, they do not want to maintain and grow the Republican Party. Their one goal is to remake the Republican Party into the Libertarian Party while keeping the Republican Party brand. Is this what Republicans really want? Do the Liberty Republicans have any intention whatsoever of keeping the Republican Platform in tact? Not for one second.

They have succeeded in gaining footholds in many of our primaries forcing some die-hard Republicans to consider voting for Democrats in November. I do not blame them. At least with a Democrat, you know what you are getting.

Libertarians are hiding in the Republican Party as Liberty Republicans. They receive endorsements from Liberty Candidates. All the while, this is still the Ron Paul Libertarian Party with all of its socially liberal viewpoints. Ron Paul and his son, Rand Paul in Kentucky, have made bold speeches saying out-right that they want to “re-form” the Republican Party.

Michael Steele is not doing anything that I can see to avoid this takeover. In fact, he is looking only for candidates “who can win the election.” Such was the case with Dede Scozzafava in NY-23 last year. What was the result of that fiasco? She withdrew her candidacy and threw her support to the Democrat who eventually won the election.

If our elected officials are not willing or not aware of the situation to help stop this takeover, and if the leader of the Republican Party is not willing to stop it, what are we to do as voters in the Republican Party who are not willing to accept the platform changes the Libertarians will bring with them? Make no mistake about it – it WILL happen.

I have a suggestion for all of us. Tell the Republican Party to kiss your foot. Stop sending money to them. But if you do that, for whom will you vote? What do you look for to get the conservative issues you demand and the representation you deserve?

The Conservative Party USA is waiting to welcome you home. Come to the place where only conservative issues are held and uplifted. Support the party in your state. If they haven’t established the Conservative Party in your state, why not be the one to get it started? Candidates? They are everywhere – living right next door to you. Maybe even you.

It takes a lot of work to get a major political movement going and growing in the right direction. Be part of the solution for America – not the problem. Join the Conservative Party and show Americans what REAL Conservatism is and what it can do. Get involved. If we all work together, there may still be time to field our own Party Candidates in November. Why not give it a try?

Who knows – you just might succeed.

I rejoiced with North Dakota when I heard the news that Dorgan realized his “service” to the people had reached its end. He saved the people of North Dakota hours of time and thousands if not millions of dollars when he resigned.

The matter now is who you will elect to represent you. Did you notice my choice of words – “…his service to the people…” I intentionally did not call him a servant OF the people because I do not really see much service to his constituents lately.

Your Primary Election is on June 8. Please spend the time between now and then learning about and listening to Paul Sorum. He is a Republican conservative candidate for US Senate from your state.

He has some very strong and valid reasons for entering the race for office. He laid out his reasons quite clearly in an article published in the Fargo Forum on December 12, a few days before Dorgan announced his retirement.

The approval rating of our congress is at a near all-time low. According to an October Gallop poll, 21% of Americans approve of Congress’s performance while 72% disapprove. [These numbers have changed to 26% approval, 68% disapproval as of November 13, 2009.] This frustration reflects the fact that Americans do not trust our politicians in Washington to protect our financial future, our security, or our liberty. This distrust is justified if you look at the lack of focus by this congress on our nation’s looming economic problems including the following:

Our nation’s annual deficit in 2009 is $1.4 Trillion – three times larger than the 2008 deficit driving our national debt much closer to the level of our gross domestic product.

Due to Congress’s spending, the dollar continues its rapid drop in value, our country’s biggest creditors, like China, express their reluctance to buy more U.S. debt.

Unemployment is 10.2% and getting worse. This past July, our Federal Reserve projected no new jobs for five years. This is especially hard on new college graduates.

Our Medicare and Social Security systems are quickly on their way to insolvency (they comprise a $43 trillion liability over the next 75 years).

106 banks have collapsed in 2009. Up to 200 more banks are expected to go under in the next two to three years and the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) deposit insurance fund is in the red.

Hundreds of billions of dollars worth of adjustable rate mortgages are expeted to be foreclosed from 2010 through 2012. There is no proposed fix from Congress to help people stay in their homes and avoid another housing market collapse.

Federal tax revenues continue their rapid decline (an 18% decline is projected for 2009) as a result of increasing unemployment and lower revenues in businesses.

Because of increasing vacancies in commercial real estate, it is now projected that a major bailout will be needed in 2010 as developers of commercial office and retail parks are defaulting on large-scale commercial loans.

Our nation’s dependence on foreign sources of energy continues as talk in Washington of a massive energy tax (Cap & Trade) paralyzes our domestic energy development.

All of these problems can be solved by focusing on fiscally sound policies in Washington. Yet, congress is willfully distracted by an array of other issues. One of our North Dakota senators has focused on introducing a bill in congress to make using a laptop computer in the cockpit of an airplane illegal. This is a knee-jerk reaction to the news headlines of two Northwest Airlines pilots who said using their laptops was a distraction that caused them to lose track of the destination of Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Byron Dorgan has a track record of getting his name in the news through such frivolous distractions as holding hearings on steroids in baseball, writing books and touring for book signing events, and, more recently, creating the scandalous Natural Heritage Area in western North Dakota against the will of land owners.

This next election in 2010 is about whether our children will have more money in their pockets or less money in their pockets. If we continue to allow Byron Dorgan to represent North Dakota in the U.S. Senate, young people in North Dakota will definitely have a lot less money in their pockets and a lot fewer opportunities than prior generations.

Paul has been listening to the people of North Dakota, and I have no doubt he will continue to do so. He has developed sound and legitimate solutions to the problems that face North Dakotans and all Americans.

I admit to a serious lack of knowledge about politics in North Dakota. I live in Texas – I just write for and support conservative candidates wherever I can find them. I have found one in North Dakota. I will never attempt to tell you how you should vote – only that you must vote. I may from time to time suggest particular candidates that I believe are deserving of your vote because of their stance on conservative issues.

It is becoming more evident to me with each passing day that our elected leaders are not doing their jobs. The American people have spoken loudly and clearly and still they refuse to listen to us. We must elect leaders, such as Paul Sorum in your state, who will. We need louder conservative voices speaking for us in our state houses and our federal houses of government, and together we can bring conservatism back to the forefront of the American political picture.

Please join me, and the Conservative Party, in supporting Paul Sorum to represent North Dakota in the US Senate.

Welcome to the family, North Dakota!

The conservative voices in sixteen other states are so glad to have you join our efforts to restore our Republic, support our democracy, and fight for our Constitution!

You don’t know me yet, but you will. I do a lot of the writing on all the Conservative Party sites. I don’t live in your state, but I will do my best to provide the best information on conservative candidates in your state and national elections as I possibly can.

I am extremely conservative and not at all ashamed to admit it. To the contrary, it is a badge I wear rather proudly. I think this is probably the best example I can give you to reflect my conservative opinions. This is true. I actually got this letter today.

I got the strangest thing in my mail today. It’s a questionnaire from the Republican National Party. They want me to fill it out giving them my feelings about issues facing Americans.

Do you agree with Barack Obama and the Democrats that taxes should be raised for the sake of “fairness,” regardless of the negative impact it is likely to have on the economy?

Do you believe the federal government has gone too far in bailing out failing banks, insurance companies and the auto industry?

Do you support amnesty for illegal immigrants?

Should English be the official language of the United States?

Are you in favor of granting retroactive Social Security eligibility to illegal immigrants who gain U.S. citizenship through an amnesty program?

Are you in favor of the expanded welfare benefits and unlimited eligibility (no time, education or work requirements) that Democrats in Congress are pushing to pass?

Do you believe that Barack Obama’s nominees for federal courts should be immediately and unquestionably approved for their lifetime appointments by the U.S. Senate?

Do you believe that the best way to increase the quality and effectiveness of public education in the U.S. is to rapidly expand federal funding while eliminating performance standards and accountability?

Do you support the creation of a national health insurance plan that would be administered by bureaucrats in Washington, D.C.?

Do you believe that the quality and availability of health care will increase if the federal government dictates pricing to doctors and hospitals?

Are you confident that new medicines and medical treatments will continue to be developed if the federal government controls prescription drug prices and sets profit margins for research and pharmaceutical companies?

Are you in favor of creating a government-funded “Citizen Volunteer Corps” that would pay young people to do work now done by churches and charities, earning Corps Members the same pay and benefits given to military veterans?

Are you in favor of reinstituting the military draft, as Democrats in Congress have proposed?

Do you believe that the federal government should allow the unionization of Department of Homeland Security employees who serve in positions critical to the safety and security of our nation?

Do you support Democrats’ drive to eliminate workers’ right to a private ballot when considering unionization of their place of employment?

Over half a legal-sized page remained filled with ways for me to send $500 (obviously the preferred amount since it is listed first), $250, $100, $50, $30, Other amount. Don’t you just know that’s going to happen??!!

Well, I have filled out their little questionnaire, and when I mail it back tomorrow, it will also include this little hand-written letter from me.

The Republican Party will get not one red cent from me!

You have abandoned “our” conservative values and ideals as much as or more than the Obamacrats!

The only reason I will vote for even one Republican is because the Conservative Party has not yet met all the requirements for fielding candidates of our own.

You blew it with me when you failed to speak up for Sarah Palin and allowed the McCain campaign to throw her under the bus.

You lost my support when you said we need to move to the center of right.

You lost my respect when you abandoned a truly conservative candidate in NY-23, Doug Hoffman, in favor of a candidate who is anything but conservative.

You gave up any chance you had of earning my respect back by saying that we have to support the candidates that can win.

No! No more! Not one red cent from me!

Here is the address is you would like to join me in my determination to see to it that the Republican Party actually HEARS the conservative voices of America:

The Republican Party has consistently failed to uphold conservative principles on so many levels since Ronald Reagan that it can no longer be considered a legitimate representative of traditional American conservative values. That is especially true for most North Dakota State Republicans. The Conservative Party of North Dakota rectifies that shortcoming.

There are Five Key Reasons why conservatives must leave the RNC if genuine conservatism is to survive in America. Based on recent legislative and political Republican failures in Congress, it’s clear you should be aware if them.

The Mission of the Conservative Party is to promote and protect individual rights and freedoms set forth in the U.S. Constitution and to limit the scope of government to the authority set forth therein. The Party will preserve the core principles on which this nation was founded as described in the founding documents of the United States.

To accomplish its Mission, the Conservative Party provides true conservatives a strong political support base that empowers them to formulate genuine conservative agendas and to articulate those views to the American people without reservation. The Party then creates the political environment that will encourage its members to run for elected office in the North Dakota Legislature and the U.S. Congress.

It is time to “Come Home America.”

“You cannot legislate the poor into freedom by legislating the wealthy out of freedom. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that my dear friend, is about the end of any nation. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it.”
